DWQA QuestionsCategory: How ToUsing PiCapture with video all-sky camera
David Nicholls asked 3 years ago

I have a Moonglow Technologies all-sky camera, which currently runs through a StarTech S-Video / Composite to USB Video Capture Cable into a Windows 7 laptop (PAL low light camera, composite video in, USB out to laptop Win7 +software).  The associated software takes single frame (or averaged frames) jpeg images from the video stream and FTPs then to a remote website. I’d like to take the laptop out of the process and use a RPi to connect to my existing system which can do the FTP uploading. I read that the PiCapture allows one to use the Raspicam commands. Do you think the PiCapture can do this job, with the all-sky camera, with the necessary command line or Python scripts? Thanks.

The PiCapture SD1 would be able to handle this just as you describe. The RPi would be able to capture the images just as if they came from the Raspberry Pi camera and FTP them wherever you like.
