My video input is 640×512 going into the SD1. At the moment I have to crop part of the input video in order to fit the 640×480 size frame. Instead of cropping the input video I would like to resize it. Is there a way to resize the input video to 640×480 instead of cropping it?

    Thanks!

The SD1 does not have the ability to interpolate from 512 to 480 lines. For something like this you would need to scale the video before sending it to the PiCapture board.

Does the HD1 have this ability?
    Thanks!

The HD1 operates quite differently from the SD1. The most significant change is that the SD1 only handles interlaced NTSC or PAL video; the HD1 is designed for progressive video formats (480p, 720p, 1080p). We have seen that some progressive, non-standard resolutions are handled by the HD1 at the next highest resolution with “noise” outside the valid video area, which can then be ignored by setting the “region of interest” (ROI) in the Raspberry Pi. This is not a supported feature, but the best way is to try it.
